Head of the Charles Regatta
For one weekend during each October, rowers and spectators take over Cambridge for the annual Head of the Charles Regatta. This was an event we stumbled upon during our first year living in Cambridge, and each year after that we'd head down to the river near Harvard Square to join in on the festivities. A tradition of sorts, I suppose.
Now that we don't live just down the street I figured we'd miss out on the fun this year. But it so happened that Taras's parents needed a ride to the airport, so we gladly took them, then went and had ourselves some pizza in Kendall Square... which we then burned off over the course of a couple miles as we walked along the Charles River from Kendall to Harvard Square.
Boston always looks beautiful from the Cambridge side of the river, but especially so when the river is lined with brightly-colored leaves and there are sail boats and crew teams scattered along the water.
And the weather! Seriously, the weather has been so good lately and Saturday was no exception. It was warmish with sunny skies, but then some sporadic cloud coverage would come in and cool us down just enough.
And while I loved the warmer weather, I kinda missed the typical chillier temps that are usually associated with this event... that cooler weather is best for bundling up in a scarf and tweed blazer and sipping hot apple cider from the sidelines.
I hope you all had a lovely fall weekend! xo
